On 26 November 2025, the day before the preliminary results of the presidential elections were to be announced, a faction of the army seized power and announced the suspension of the electoral process. They have ordered the suspension of media programming, the closure of sea, air, and land borders, and instituted a nationwide curfew from 6 pm to 7 am.
