There are no significant security concerns in Slovakia, however normal safety and security precautions should be taken to ensure personal safety. 

Terrorism
There is an underlying threat of terrorism in Slovakia. Terrorist groups, including those based in Syria and Iraq, have made threats to conduct attacks across Europe.  

New Zealanders in Slovakia are advised to keep themselves informed of potential risks to safety and security by monitoring the media and other local information sourcesWe recommend following any instructions issued by the local authorities and exercising vigilance in public places. 

General travel advice
New Zealanders travelling or living in Slovakia should have a comprehensive travel insurance policy in place. 

New Zealanders in Slovakia are encouraged to register their details with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
