A large-scale public concert is scheduled to take place at Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul on Saturday 21 March from 8pm to 9pm Korea Standard Time. As a result, very large crowds of around 260,000 spectators are expected in the areas around Gwanghwamun Square.
The Korean Government has raised its crisis and terrorism levels to “caution”, the second of a four-level scale, from midnight on Wednesday 18 March until midnight on Saturday 21 March in the Jongro-gu and Jung-gu areas. This is due to increased risks associated with mass crowds gathering.
Local authorities have strengthened their security and patrol operations around the area. Selected roads will be closed, and some public transport routes will be rerouted or temporarily suspended. Security checks may also occur.
We recommend you remain alert to your surroundings and follow the advice of local authorities.
