Authentication methods

Here’s some information about the authentication methods you can use to register with SafeTravel.

Register your travel

Register your plans and contact details so we can send you travel updates about the places you're travelling to.

When you register with SafeTravel, you have the option to register with:

  • A passkey
  • A RealMe account
  • A username and password.

Once you've created an account, you can add a second authentication method, so you have more than one way to log in. You can also remove an authentication if you're not using it anymore.

When you register with SafeTravel, your account will contain your travel plans and personal details. Keep your data safe by choosing a more secure authentication method.

Passkey

A passkey is a more secure alternative to logging in with a password. Passkeys use biometric authentication (like your fingerprint or face) or device PIN to verify your identity.

When you create a passkey, you can sync it across devices by saving it in your password manager, or linking it to your Google, Windows, or iCloud account. If you need to change your SafeTravel passkey, you can do that on the Manage account page.

RealMe

If you don’t want to create a new login for SafeTravel, you can log in with your existing RealMe account. A RealMe login lets you securely log into a range of government services with just one username and password to remember.

Username and password

You can also log into SafeTravel with your email and a password. You should use a strong password that is at least 16 characters long. Don't re-use passwords from other websites and don't share your password with anyone.
