Poland shares with Europe the threat from an international terrorist attack. Terrorist attacks have taken place in many major European cities and New Zealanders in Poland are advised to be security conscious at all times. Monitor the local media for any information on potential threats to personal safety and keep yourself informed of the latest alerts. We recommend you avoid all demonstrations, protests and rallies as they have the potential to turn violent.

There is a risk of robbery on rail and bus journeys. Thieves working alone or in small groups often target travellers on long distance trains and buses, particularly at night, and on public transport between the airport and central Warsaw. New Zealanders are advised to maintain a high level of personal security awareness and guard belongings carefully.

New Zealanders travelling or resident in Poland should have comprehensive medical and travel insurance policies in place.

New Zealanders travelling or resident in Poland are strongly encouraged to record/update their details online.
