Denmark shares with the rest of Europe a threat from terrorism. Terrorist attacks have taken place in many major European cities and New Zealanders in Denmark are advised to be security conscious at all times.
On 4 March 2008 the Danish Security and Intelligence Service issued an assessment stating that there is a general terror threat against Denmark. Since October 2005 a number of individuals have been arrested in Denmark on suspicion of planning terrorist attacks. On 4 September 2007 eight people suspected of planning an attack were arrested by Danish police.
New Zealanders are advised to avoid all demonstrations, protests and rallies and keep themselves informed of potential risks to safety and security by monitoring the media and other local information sources.
New Zealanders travelling or resident in Denmark should have comprehensive medical and travel insurance policies in place.
New Zealand citizens travelling or resident in Denmark are encouraged to register their details with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade through this website.
